1. Nintendo Switch Sports
This is the big news of this year. After years of absence, the series initiated with Wii Sports is available in a new, more modern version that we loved. You can train in chambara, volleyball, soccer, tennis, badminton, or bowling on the program. By this fall, you will be able to enjoy golf, but this summer, you will have to be satisfied with these 6 disciplines.
If the title has a relatively complete online mode, in local, you can already participate in all sports with another player, and this can reach up to 4 players depending on the sport. Beware of the curves, don’t forget to stretch!
2. Mario Strikers Battle Football League
We stay in the sports category, but this game only asks you to move your thumbs. Mario Strikers Battle Football League is also a revival of an old franchise beloved by Nintendo fans. In this wacky title, you compete in very special soccer matches, in which all blows are allowed, especially the most violent ones.
Each playable character in the Mushroom Kingdom has specific combat characteristics and can therefore win the match in many ways. It’s up to you to decide whether or not fair play is the game’s name. Note that you can play with up to 8 players on the same console!
3. Overcooked All You Can Eat
Overcooked All You Can Eat is a bundled re-release of the franchise’s first two installments. The game integrates brand new online features but is also playable in cooperation with up to 4 players on the same console. Overcooked has rather demanding gameplay that requires a good grip, but you are guaranteed to have fun even with difficulty.
The numerous modes available and the multiple scenarios offer you incredible diversity since each board has its characteristics that affect the gameplay. It’s a complete game that will keep you busy for a long time while waiting for the release of Overcooked 3 in 2022.
4. Cerebral Academy: Brain Battle
Released on December 3rd, Battle of the Minds is a re-release of the game Brain Academy, released on Nintendo DS and Wii a few years ago. The goal is still the same: answer questions or solve puzzles in order to win the biggest brain trophy. In this opus, there are 5 distinct categories: identification, memory, analysis, math, and perception.
We first like it because it reminds us of our childhood, but better. Secondly, because it is a multiplayer game accessible to all and it promises crazy games with family or friends. Note that you can play up to 4 players simultaneously on the same console.
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
We finish with a classic, which nevertheless brought us a great novelty this year. If you haven’t yet succumbed to the Additional Tracks Pass (offered with the Switch Online subscription + additional pack), what are you waiting for? The first wave of tracks brings 8 new races in two separate cups. So it’s time to dust off your game cartridge and rediscover some simply legendary tracks, our favorite being the Coco Supermarket. This is also a lot of races in which to challenge your friends.
6. Zelda Breath of the Wild
The story of Zelda has lulled gamers for decades, and the saga’s hero, Link, easily recognizable by his green outfit, is a symbol of the brand. He returns in this sensational Switch episode, which was praised by the trade press and gamers around the world upon its release. Never before has the feeling of freedom been so great in the title of the series, and the world to explore is huge.
As Link, you’re free to climb wherever you want, choose your next destination, and move through the story at your own pace, which is sumptuous as usual. The dungeons are creative, and the combat system is perfectly balanced. The graphics are amazing, with the impression of living a cartoon!
The long adventure will take the player by storm, and fans of action-RPG will be conquered by the mastered scenario and the numerous possibilities offered by this Zelda Breath of the Wild, which offers a journey and a complete change of scene.
